So, after much debating with myself, I decided to swap bedrooms with my kids. My bedroom was downstairs and looked like this...
Well, all of that got moved upstairs and we painted the room Behr Classic Taupe to match the rest of the house.
Then, I remembered this world map wall mural I saw in Pottery Barn that I had my eye on for quite a while.
So cute huh!? I really love the idea but I didn't want too much blue in the bedroom. I wanted to keep the walls as neutral as possible. I decided to keep the Classic Taupe and hand paint the thin outline of the map on the wall. I found the map image on my Silhouette software which is available to anyone to download even if you do not have a Silhouette. You can download the software and purchase the image here. It is $0.99
Next, I printed the image on transparency paper and used my overhead projector to project the image onto the wall. My steady hand hubby used a pencil and very lightly traced the outline of the map image.
Next, I used the premixed Rustoleum Navy Blue paint that I had left over from the Stenciled Biplane Dresser I did. I used a tiny little paint brush (about 1/4" wide) and hand painted over the pencil tracings. It took about 2.5 hours to do the whole thing but I split it over 2 days so it was pretty simple.
Not perfect but I LOVE IT and so do my little boys! They keep asking where we live and which country is which. :) I'll show you the rest of the room real soon! I just have a few finishing touches to do in there. What do you think!? So fun for an airplane room right!?
